Maximum Antarctic Sea Ice Explorer:September is the month of maximum sea ice extent in the Antarctic. Above, you will notice three September images of the Antarctic open in the SEAICEBOX explorer. The first image represents the most recent September image in the database. This image is selected and active. The second image is from one decade before the most recent image. The third is from two decades before the most recent. Each image has a drop down menu from which you can select any three September images in the database at a time going back to 1979.
